Well I removed the starter button and replaced with a dirt bike kill switch. It starts fine, but only in nuetral(didn't realize I forgot the bypass til I was at the starting line for a race!)

I dont have the wiring diagram, but need to get this fixed before this weekend. I have to trace down the wires since I removed all of the 'excess' thinking I was done. Does anyone know the color of the two wires to connect in order to start in gear?

Thanks in advance

the yellow and green wires with the tabs on them that go the the stock clutch lever.... u can strip them at the bars and do it... or i pull off the hood and strip back the protective covering where the harness plugs into the main wiring and cut strip and splice them under the hood..... that way you only need two wires to your start button........

My 08 will start in gear with the bypass done and it helps on the holeshots! :p

I doubt it was changed in the years, heck I am pretty sure it was the same colors on my 400ex. It is a yellow wire w/ a green stripe that you connect to the solid green wire. I did this and it works fine.

it hasnt changed any bud; my 2002 400ex , my 04 450r, my 06 450r all have the yellow w/ green tracer and green wire.
