I bet we get some "topic has been discused many times blah blah blah" lol welcome to the forums. I agree Curtis Sparks is deffinately the best for the 400ex. HMF is second for me and is much easier on the wallet.

thanks, should i get a slip on or full system?

thats debatable. I dont think Curtis Sparks offers a slip on so you would have to go full system. HMF and most other companies have slip on or full system. I chose a slip on because its cheaper, still gets the job done and I dont plan on going big. If your going to mod out your motor I would say get the full system. Otherwise on a stock motor the HMF full system had only about 1HP more which wasnt worth the extra $200 or so to me. but on a more modded engine the full system will easily outperform the slip on and will have bigger gains.

I think if you get slip on get a Lexx pipe. Cheaper than a HMF, you still get good performance and is quiet. For a full system, they are all over priced. But, if you do get one get a Yoshimura RS-3.

you dont have to but it would be wise to. I'm sure a different airfilter will even make you lean out where you need to rejet. Jetting is simple and theres plenty of how to's and threads on jetting to help you. I wouldnt buy a jet kit, I think they are a waste of time. Buy individual jets at a dealer, jetsrus.com, c&d racing... it will be much cheaper than buying a jet kit.

yes you will still need to bump up the main jet some. look up the carb jetting thread and you should get a good idea....nevermind here it is

Stock jetting is 38K Pilot Jet and 148K Main Jet. The size is stamped on the side of each jet

i love my yoshimura. it really woke the thing up. i like the sound of the sparks, but i have never rode one with a sparks pipe. i hate the way the HMF sounds. they are raspy and annoying by comparison to the yoshi. the yosh has a nice deep tonal quality to it.
