the 250f are faster, but its up to you if your big enough to handle a 250f

My son is 5' 6" and weighs 150 lbs, he just stepped up to a YZ125 from a heavily moded CRF100F. He loves the 2 stroke power band and I like the ease of up keep.
The 250cc 4 strokes are what nearly everyone is racing now. The seat heights are nearly all the same. It just boils down to rider preference.

at that weight hows the power for him? those tend to be on the violent side.

I'll let you know as soon as he can ride it. He broke his arm roller blading.

Why not a 250 two stroke?:blah:

It depends if you like two strokes or four strokes. 250f is a lot faster and torq monsters. Two strokes, well, you just can't beat the power band! It also helps ya learn how to use the clutch as well.

I'm a two stroke guy so go with a 125.:p

To learn on, I'd go with a yz 125 for now. I 125's for a few years and I feel that helped me out skill wise before I made the jump to a 250F. It definitly helped me out with clutching. 4 strokes are easier to ride, but if you're just starting out, go for a 125. Great bikes to learn on, then later down the road maybe try a 250F.
