Can anyone tell me what Honda has been doing to the 400EX's since '99? Do they contanstly improve and refine them like they do with some of their other bikes (CR250 for example) or has it basically been the same thing year after year?

same, small schanges like allen heads from phillips and the carb boot is now completely covered as compared to before when it was partially covered in rubber and they were cracking.

Honda changed something on the 2003 frame, but we can't find it yet. The 99-02 frames have one part # the 03's have a different one.

Only change other than Bold new graphics and prices is that it went from a "Fourtrax" to a "Sporttrax" Don't look for much else to change either. Man, you've got to love how they update the bikes each year and sell 5000 of each model, but the ex that sells 30000 each year gets NO changes, guess all the money goes to pay Ricky Charmichael's salary instead!

they did change something on the 03 frame. I think it has to do with the motor mounts. I just got an o3 frame(it was $200 cheaper then an 02 frame) I measured the mounts on both frames and they all seem to match up, but the motor brackets are also differant part numbers. But as far as a-arms, swingarm, and oll of those components they are the same so far. As soon as i put my motor in ill let u know if its differant
