i have a 400ex with a 11:1 compression piston, stage 2 hotcam and full hmf exhaust. KN air filter with lid removed

When im going half throttle and let off the gas, it bogs right down and spits and sputters and barely moves, untill its past 1/4 throttle agian.

42 pilot
4th clip down
162 main jet
air fuel screw 1 1/2 turns out

Move your clip back to the 3rd notch sounds like your too rich

Sorry but, I have to disagree with you Honda#4. It sounds like his pilot circuit is lean. The problem is when he's off the throttle. Back out your fuel screw to 2 1/2 and see if it improves.

actually its when im i get back on the throttle after letting off to slow down, than when i push it again adn keep it before 1/4 throttle it bogs down and sputters. Not when its decelerating.

Sorry for the mix up.

Sorry for the mix up.

Anything under 1/4 throttle is the pilot jet and fuel screw settings. Adjust the fuel screw first.

Yes Hornet I do agree with you his screw needs to be turned out, J/W if you can feel a difference in the throttle when your riding? Sometimes I can feel it in the throttle when im lean or rich cuz the throttle will have a loose feeling to it.

i turned out the screw and it made it worse, the wheeler wont idle now and when I took out the plug it was black. When I turn the A/F screw in still no changes, should i got ahead and get a #40 pilot jet to replace the 42. Or should i move the clip up one.

Drop it down to a 40K Pilot.

The needle ONLY effects mid throttle.

Pilot jet and fuel screw control the idle to 1/4 throttle response.
