What info would you like to hear?

Can the guy you bought if from explain why it doesn't have a VIN number? If he doesn't have a title then he should have a certificate of origin from the manufacturer. Did he keep the old frame? VIN numbers don't fall off...they are stamped into the metal.

what color is the frame? Was it powdercoated?

On my frame the vin #'s are deep in the metal, on my old quad it was just dot matrix numbers that would easily grind off or cover with paint, but on this new frame it is deep deep. If someone took off the vin it should be obvious. A noticable dip in the metal you could feel with your finger or if they filled it in with bondo. On the same affect, if it is an aftermarket frame. It should really be noticable. I mean, a full lobo frame is easy to tell from a stocker. Do you have the title signed over and in hand at least? If you didn't get the title, then it is definitley stolen.

take it to the police an have them look at it if they cant find a number they will give you papers saying that the dmv can give you a vin number

they didnt really even look at my bike they came to my house an looked at it an talked to me an asked if i can find one i said no so he wrote me a letter saying that the dmv can give me a vin number an title. o an i told him it was cut off by someone

Just because there isn't any scratch marks or grind marks doesn't mean it's not stolen. They could might of well took a piece from another frame the same length, welded it in, grinded down the welds and sand it. Then they paint over it and ta-da! You can't even tell it was done.

I know this because some dumbass by my dads shop was all proud of himself when he stole a bike out of the woods, and had his friend weld in a different vin number. As stupid as he is, I actually couldn't see a difference.

So, a bill of sale, no title. No vin number on the frame. Something is really fishy there, and 99.9% of the time that happens, it's stolen.

And everyone keeps asking you to post pics so we can tell you if its aftermarket. Why don't you already!

the cops will take it in ny without vins, they also have a chemical procedure i think that can bring the vins back out if its been grinded off, so youll be out, they wont return it to you, and if they cant bring the numbers back one of the cops will end up with it if its not auctioned off with new dmv vins, the chances of them pursuing the case are slim they may not even check up on the guy you got it from unless you really push it, if its a ex sand the paint off where the vins are suppose to be, if there is no grinding or anything like that chances are its a replacement frame

i know all 3 of my quads have pced frames and u cant see my vins but i have all the paperwork for 2 of them and a bill of sale with the vins on one, now if it came down to it id be sanding my pc off to show the cops...which sucks but at least in ny thats the first thing they check

its not out of the norm on anything over 4-5 yrs old to just get a bill of sale or transferrable reg ....as long as u still got vins
