I'm upgrading to a bigger quad...questions

I have a couple questions...

04 450r is what i am looking at.
the guy told me if i come up with $2500 I can take it off his hands.
my questions:
what should I be looking for when reviewing the quad before purchase?
are there any major problems with the 04's, being they were the first year the 450s were produced?
are there any recalls they had so I can ask the owner if he had them done?

i have a 04 i bought used. i love it havent had a problem w/ it yet.. from what i understand the 04 05's were the same. i dont think there were any recals w/ them that yea but dont put my word on it.look for cracks on the fram like on the top fram rail... 2500 sounds like a great deal..

I love my 04 got it used in March no problems with it yet either. They are the same as 05s. Don't think there was a recall for them.

there was a recall for the crank bearing seal or something like that on the 04's an early model 05's Ive had 3 450r's and loved everyone one of them. I still got my 05 and I havent had one problem with it. Great quads

well, the crank bearings arent a recall by honda but if it has about 15-20 hours on it and they havent went out yet then it should be okay. but not a bad idea to replace them every now and then

Check for cracks by the front shock mounts as well. Run it through all gears, check all your bearings, IE axel, shock, wheel bearings.
