Long Travel: Shock Lengths and A-arms

I'm looking to piece together a +1 long travel setup for a 400ex, from used parts.

Searching in the past I've found two lengths of long travel front shocks: 18.75(?) and 19.25, or something along those lines.

I'd like to know if there is a way to tell which a-arms use which shocks, or if it matters.

most 18.75" are LT for yamahas. Hondas generally use 19.75 and 20.5 shocks. I would call the arm manufacturer and they will tell you what shock to use for their arms.

When I score a set of +1 LT's, I'll do that.
