I know in some towns/states it is legal to ride quads on the road (with proper licenses, registration, etc) now say you register and license your bike out of a state that allows street legal quads yet drive it say in New Jersey, where its not legal to license them. Is it still legal to drive them on the streets?

sorry if its a bit confusing, i couldnt figure out a better way to put it

hmm, never heard of that, but if you can do that. im taking a road trip.

chances are tho that you can do that becuase if you get pulled over they really dont have a thing to record your plate down as. and there isnt really road laws for quads, except to stay of them.

if you are planning on registering it out of state, it wont work. since you live in NJ, you cannot legally register and plate a vehicle out of state and then drive it primarily in NJ...all vehicles owned by people who live in NJ must be registered and plated in NJ...

to answer your question directly, the best thing to do is look into the laws for that state. i myself would assume that since it is a street legal vehicle, they cant do anything about beings that that is your mode of transportation...but it really dont know

I would say move to WV. I live there and it is legal to ride on paved roads as long as there are working lights on the machine, you are not doubling, unless the quad was intended as a two seater, you have a valid driving liscense, and you wear a helmet. The Hatfield and McCoy trails start 7 miles from my home, and I often take off up the highway to get access to them!

some guy took a modded banshee, put street tires on beadlocks hipers, GPS, trail tech, small bilnkers, and mirros and had it street legal down in miami. What he did was went to another state where it was legal, had it registered as a motorcycle there, brought it back and since it was classified as motorcycle he was able to get a plate for it.
