I need a stock replacement tank(stock capacity) for a color change and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with IMS or Clarke. Considering white, natural or black. Does the white match oem white fenders? Any info on fit and finish would be great. Thanks in advance!

a less costly alternative is a tank cover.

Yeah what 86 Quad R said.

Maier and Feather carbon are a couple I know about, and they both still make them for the 250R.

I have a maier cover but I'm not impressed with the fit. It fits the tank fine but effects the fender mounting a little.

I've purchased a Clarke tank for a 350X that I have and it fit perfectly and the white matched fairly well to the stock fenders.

but that was a 350X... lol.

I have not seen aftermarket stock sized tanks for the 250R, didn't know they existed.

I've had both clarke and IMS in both stock size and 3.6 gallon, 4 gallon. The clarke tanks fit better with oversize and either fit perfect as if they are exact copies with stock replacement.

The clarke is probably a glossier finish, but I don't think I would go with black as it scratches and dulls really easily if you spill any gas. Natural almost always turns yellowish, white I'm not sure.

I have had natural clarke tanks on both my bikes. I also sold one to ct350x and I want to say he likes it.

I had a IMS oversized and the bars hit it with a plus one stem, CR high bend tag bars. As far as the yellowing, I want to say it depends on the oil you use. If it's green|blue oil, then yes it yellows - that IMS one did and the fella I got that R from used cheap 2-stroke oil from Walmart. I use a purplish color oil and have no problems with the Natural finish tank. Klotz Benol - smells great with straight 110. :D

Sorry, speaking of 2 stroke oil, you like the klotz benol? I'm thinking of switching.

My buddy has a ATC250R with an IMS oversize tank and its yellowing he uses strickly Bel-Ray MC1 and drains his tank after every ride, (since he only rides 3-4 times a year)

yes, give the klotz a try. I stopped using the castor 927 after I saw a buddy roast his banshee two times. Probably not the oils fault, but just superstition. :) I have had no problems with the benol.

Here is the cover I was going to use but decided to buy a new tank. It started as a new Maier cover and I had it covered in a carbon fiber laminate then clear coated. Looks awesome. Cover was $50 from Maier and it cost me more than that to cover it. Asking $70 shipped. thanks paypal is pkapellas@comcast.net thanks
