Im wanting to get my 6yr old duaghter a starter quad and I have a chance to pick up a 86 lt50 for a good price. Would this be a good quad to buy? Are they reliable even being this old?

I would say sure. if you can get it at a good price. does he or she have any riding experience? Strike that you did say beginner.

If your daughter is a tall Six or seven year old like mine is then you should be looking at an kfx80 because she will not out grow it as fast. The 80 has a adjustable thumb throtle so you can restrict the speed at first. It also depends on what kind of riding she does. If she just runs around in the backyard the 50 will be find but if you do trail riding then the 50 get very slow, MY daughter has had both, but she started when she was four, the 50 was fine. I not trying to sell you an 80 but unless you have a younger child to move into the 50 when she out grows it then it would be a wast of money.
As it just so happens I have an 2005 kfx80 for sale :o :D If you are interested E-mail jtprock@sbcglobal.net me and I will send you pics.
Thanks.
