did you put the K&n sticker on the plastic bc thats like an instant 5hp, but yeah maybe drop a tooth on the front sprocket...but I don't think your going to hang that close with out gettin some engine work done:ermm:

Hang, as in a drag race? Without boring a 400ex, it will never be as fast as a 450...even with all the bolt on's in the world. If you are talking about hanging like on MX or XC, suspension will make you faster than anything.

What I would do.

11.1 High-Compression piston
Hotcams Stage 2 (or 1, whichever you choose)
450r carb
Open airbox

The 450's are quick, but with those mods if you're a decent rider, you should have not too big of a problem hangin with him.

you can always do a 440 or 460 stroker with stage 3 cam. lol

426 is fairly popular. I cant speak from experience, but most people say its just as fast as a 440, because it makes less heat. heat= loss of power.

the best thing would probably be suspension. suspension should always come before engine.


unless its a drag, then go with a 505 or 525 or whatever they are stroker:devil:



a 426 or 440 woudl be good with a good cam and get it ported and polished while you're ar it. it will easily keep up with him. make sure you get it done by someone who is good and does it right, becuase if its not done right you could get smoked by a stocker 400 if you have a 440 or something
