I know this is gonna sound really stupid for the most part of you guys, but i was wondering, what is the purpose of having smaller tires on the back of a sport quad. I have several utility ones, and recently decided what the heck, and went out and bought myself a new 08 kfx450r. I was just wondering about this. Oh and another thing, where can i get a COMFORTABLE seat for it, this stock seat kills me!

the smaller tires give you more acceleration, its the same concept with the gearing.

18's are generally used in MX

20's for most everything

22's for mud etc.. then there are odd sizes but those are the basic.

and seats, not to sure about that one, but im sure you can have one made

quad tech makes taller seats but they can get very pricey.

i wouldn't go smaller than 20's if you plan on doing anything besides riding mx. 20's are a pretty good all around size.

smaller diameter tires also have much less flex in the sidewalls, they transfer more of the impacts to the shocks, eliminating the bounce, and they offer a lower center of gravity. sprockets should always be used for gearing before tires. so smaller tires are mainly for improving the handling characteristics of a quad.
