I've concidered this build in the past. I would use the crf250x so I could have the option of electric start as well. It should be a really easy build. I would like to use the dual exhaust set up also just for the trick look. If you do this post up your progress

on a issue of dirt wheels there was a article on a trx250r i didnt get to read the article but i saw a pic of it. and it looked like a 450 accept the engine was smaller nad the dual exhaust. it look awome and would blow a 300. had 450 style shocks and all. was sick if i can find that article i will post the link. and if you do the build start up a build thread i would def follow it for sure.

The only thing is you would have to make that frame pretty small, to compensate for the hp your going to lose when you transfer it over from the bike. It's alot of money to dump into something like a kids quad, or for a smaller person. Not to mention it wouldn't sell if you ever wanted too. Sorry to shoot you down :p

It was just an idea, do you guys know of any other good hybrid projects for my 300ex, I have easy access to a kawasaki 250 engine.

I dont know where you get your info from but the crf250r makes 32hp verses the 300ex making 17hp and it will have plenty of torque to push it. There have been several hybrids built with this motor in a 250r or 400ex and they have been raced in the 400 class and won. Like I stated before I had plans on doing this set up as well finding a motor for the right price is my only drawback plus its not on my list of priorities at the moment but I do have the rolling chassis.

I agree with you jonboy, even on ebay the crf250r's are going for 2000, I can't afford that, maybe someday.

A guy in South Africa has just fitted a 250f into their 300ex, tghe project seems to have worked very well and the motor fitted very well into the frame, the only problen was that they had to custom fit a raptor 700 swingarm in as the standard one was to short for all of the extra power

A 450r swinger should work with this setup. It would also be very easy to make this a link suspension.

I would like to do this, but $ is the issue, maybe in a few years, I started already saving for a 250f engine, it was just an idea, but now I really want to do it.
