I have been looking at cams, and would kinda like to cam out the 400,, I was wondering though, what the better cam would be and how much I would notice,, Also ,, Do you have to re-jet after Caming a motor???

Well I don't want to give you false information but I would not get a xr400 cam. Look in the quad shop and im sure they have some good names for you. And yes you do have to reject (as far as I knoe)

I like my hotcans 2. Look for a drop in that doesn't require new springs and rockers and you can save some $$$

its very rare that u rejet for a cam..yes sometimes u have 2...the xr400 cam...higher compression piston...and xr400 cams would be a nice increase in power an no reliability lost at all...

For $120 I'm happy with my XR400 cam,,honda part in a honda motor,,and very reliable,,what else could ya ask for.

I didn't notice much of a difference in mine with the XR cam. It gave it a little stronger pull in the mid and top. Many people have tried the XR cam though. So you might find one used for cheap. I got mine from a buddy that went bigger. I got the cam with installation for $100. :D

if your gonna spend the money for a cam i would suggest you get a more radical cam like a stgae 1 hotcam(all around) or stage 2 (race)

just adding the XR400 cam probably won't be a huge gain,,but add it with a higher compression piston,,stock or over bore and you'll be happy with it..also what kind of riding are you doing???

If you do an overbore or high comp. piston, I suggest the Web 450/451 cam. Do some research though, I'm not sure how it will be for MX but it does work well with a ross piston for XC racers

I would go with the HRC cam straight from honda! A honda part in a honda motor, cannot go wrong with that. The hrc cam is a full race cam, like a stage 2 or the like. And it does not require hard-faced rockers.

Well,, I do mostly trail riding, the basics, hills, small jumps, field riding, county roads.. Pretty much all round riding I guess.. All I have done to the 400 is, Jet kit, K&N, and megamax slip on pipe.. Would a stage 2 Hotcam work well or should I just stick with stage 1 hotcam?? Is there anywhere I can look at a dyno of some of the cams?? whats some websites where I can look at them also??

Hotcams stage 2. Same price as a XR400 and alot better. It is a striaght drop in cam. I had a xr400 and took it out and installed a Hotcam within a month b/c it was ****. C&D Racing has a bunch of them instock and cheap.
