Caleb Moore must be suicidal, even a perfect landing from that height and distance would suck major.

get the movie and check it out, landings good. you should see the takeoff for that:eek2: that was probably the ballsiest thing that i've ever seen done on a quad. i can maybe see if he was following someone and pacing off them or something, but just seeing the takeoff and a landing on the other side of a canyon and deciding to huck it takes balls.

think of what its like when your at the track and theres a big double that looks a little hard and you watch and follow people and know how fast to go and hit it and its still a little scary the first time. now imagine having no clue how fast to go, no one to follow, and a jump twice as big and probably 3 times as high over a canyon and if you case it you break all your bones. calebs got balls

The jump Caleb did was insane! I would kill to get out west and shoot some of that terrain.

Skyshot aint no little jump, but teh riders know its doable and can build up to it.

its called skill, once you get to a certain level you can look at a lip and know how fast to hit it.

so caleb had enough skill to hit it and not need to worry about it at all? yeah, that is a skill and he did know how fast to hit and im sure theres hundreds of other people out there who know how fast to hit it, but that doesnt make it an easy jump.

07-02-2008, 09:03 PM
you gotta be really confident when you start jumping that big. I mean the things they did in huevos jumping over 200ft... they just hit the ramp in 5th gear and land whereever because the landing is so big and its almost like a huge table top. Not saying its easy because jumping that far I know i would be nervous but the DANIMALS section jumps are pretty simple. What Caleb Moore did thats like a gap which he needed to gauge the landing instead of having a landing so big you land where ever. Takes a lot of skill and guts to do something like that.

yea the danimal jumps are so easy considering sometimes the landing is 20 feet to thew right of the take off and u have to whip the bike while ur flying 150 to 200 feet they are also so easy that everyone is doing them come on now if they are so simple u go hit one.

give me a quad with that kind of suspension and take me there and if its not the whip ons its straight why not. haul *** and hit a jump with a huge landing. the whip ones yeah that takes more skill and I know i couldnt do those i wuld have to work up to that but the ones that are straight i dont see anything s crazy about them unless your afraid of heighs or flying through the air. Hey if I could hit stuff like that I probally would.

i agree the jumps are a lot harder than they look. it might seem like you could do it, but when your sitting 300 ft. from the take off, just seeing a wall of dirt in front of you and people all around you telling you to pin it, its not gonna be easy.

BUT, when the landings 20 feet over to the side, you're screwed no matter who you are. It's physically impossible to change direction once you're in the air. You might have to hit the lip a little funny if the landings not straight, but you can't decide to change direction once you in the air

the Danimals quote made me laugh, saying that a 200ft table isnt scary at all. Ever case a huge table wide open.... it pogos you into the air after landing and hurting some part of your body then you end up in the dirt at 5th gear speed tumbling, fun

...but oh wait if it doesnt have a gap its easy, right?

Well said. I can say I'd be as fast as Bill Ballance if I had half the money in my bike as his does. Truth is, If I had the money like that in my bike, I would be faster, but not that much faster. I can appreciate his speed without saying, I could do that.

Something happened, I don't remember what and my friend rolled off that jump. He came down the steep side toward the fence. It rolled twice, broke the right spindle and bent the stem. His shoulder was hurting for a few days after that. He was on a crf450r hybrid #513. I had a pretty ugly jump on the second on the stair case(think I got it on video also). Hit the first one, cleared it and hit the second one, didn't make it and landing with a big nose dive into the side of the second. I saw it happening and held the front wheel as straight(I was riding a trike) as can be, my helmet hit the handlebars, but lived to tell the story. I used to clear the big tabletops in back also(before they lengthened them). Regulars at E-town probably will remember seeing a guy riding trike(03-05).

Sweet! How does jumping a trike compare to a quad, seems like it would feel quite ackward:eek2:

You just are more carefull of the landing. Once you are used to the light front end, nothing different. With quads you have more room for error. Actually with trikes there is less room for error on every aspect of riding it, seams like it would make you a better rider. It did for me, almost 3 years only trikes. Rode a quad like it was nothing and most noticable constanty overturning it.
