Hi I have a 2004 LT80. It is bone stock. I have to pull the head and cylinder for some other work. I have access to a full machine shop and have some light experience in porting cylinders. Keeping in mind that my kids are still pretty small. Are there any mods to do to these areas while I have it apart that won't affect the operation of it as a small kids machine? But would be a benefit when dad wants to rip it up a little. I also plan to keep this machine after the kids outgrow it and mod it into my own little racer/pitbike.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Shaved the head .030 “you can still use pump gas” Keeping things simple……
If you have a air die grinder or dremal tool it will help a lot just to smooth the casting flaws off the intake ports, Smooth and “polish” the exhaust port will help keep it clean, And sharpen the port separator walls (Red arrows)

You can raise the exhaust port .050 or so but the head will need to be shaved .045 instead of the .030.
Do not raise the transfers.
All things considered, I wouldn't cut the transfer separator walls down much. Just clean em up.

Who's cylinder is that GT80?

Thanks for the info guys, My parts will be going under the knife this weekend. LT80, can you still run pump gas when you take .045" off the head? And is the .045" only if I rasie the exh port .050" or even with stock porting?

.030 for stock exhaust
When the exhaust port is raised, the compression ratio needs to be corrected.
Yes, still pump gas. :)
