i want to buy a porting kit for my 250r but im not sure what company to go with CTracing is very expencive but the kit that i was comes with CT cylinder porting, deck cylinder, re-chamber head, modified piston, cylinder spacer plate and top-end gasket set. all for $500

the other kit is from trinity racing and they have many good porting kits to so what really is the best and are there eny other good kits out there.

i have around $500 to work with

Most R guys avoid CT like the plague. It's not that Alan isn't good at it, they just have horrible customer service and give mediocre porting unless you are very specific and persistent with what you want.
Some of the fastest ones I've seen are: ESR, LRD, K&T, Ripps PowerSports.
The type of riding you will do can influence your decision also. What do you want to do?

the kind of riding that i em going to do is mx but i dont what to get a port and have it not add a lot of power so i definitely what a good brand name

Paul Turner makes some killer R motors as well

..porting alone is only part of it..when looking for more power

PSI is another good R builder, their motors scream

you just asked the most opinionated question EVER!

LOL

everyone will tell ya who they like.....

thats about it.....

best way to see what you like is to ride ported r's

i wouldnt take peoples advice...

The thing about CT IS true!

But then again everyone says ESR is fairly good but I beat both Ct 310 and a esr 310 with my B+B ported R by about the same and my r is only 260cc(67.75mm piston)

So it really is a trial and error kind of thing.

Ive raced alot of different r's and I really like my B+B ported R.

p.s.

trinity needs to stick with banshees and not r's..............
I killed my friends trinity r.....

I know a lot of the pro MX riders use LRD and Duncan (Paul Turner). If you have the cash for a powervalve motor the PC2000 is an impressive hunk of aluminum!
If you are planning on racing the 250 class you'll have to stay at 265cc or under (a 250r at .080" over is a 265).
Just find a builder that can work with your budget and your power(band) goals.
For power numbers, they are deceving for MX motors. Peak HP and powerband are very different. PSI has made some 60+hp 265s but they are very peaky and have had questionable reliability. A good powervalved 265 is the way to go if you want to MX.

Send it to sparks and you will see you cylinder in about a year!! No joke !

Send it to ESR and have a damn fast 250r and be riding in about 3 weeks !!

ESR for sure.... I have built over 20 250rs with ESR stuff and it is the absolute best ...PERIOD .....................

I've been debating ESR or Kermil myself. Anyone know off hand what ESR is asking for their 310 w/ a powervalve? For the money Rick's 270 kit is darn tempting:D
