I tried posting this in the 400ex section but haven't gotten any help so i thought id try here.
Ok here goes. I put a 450r carb on my 416, stock 48 pilot, needle on the tird clip and a dynojet 170 main. The thing will not fire at all unless you hold it about half throttle then it will start, but it spits and sputters and blows black smoke like its running wayyy rich. So i put in 42 pilot 2 1/2 turns out on the a/f screw an second clip from the top, still does the same thing. The only way it will run is wide open throttle. I've checked the float needle and the accelerator pump, both look good. anybody have an idea how to make this thing run?
