Fuel efficiency

Are these bikes like 2 strokes when it comes to gas mileage? Or can they ride all day without refueling? I'm talking about just the carbeurated 450's not fuel injected ones.

since when are the hondas fuel injected.

a 450r whether its modded or stock can probably go for a full days riding before fueling up. idk about the 08s tho. they have smaller tanks. but probably 8 hours on the older 450s

When I said these bikes, I meant 450s. I posted in the trx section, but didn't mean just honda bikes.

my buddy rode a 3 hour XC RACE on one tank, with some reserve left over, on his 04. only thing in it was a HRC cam.

wow, is that 3-4 hours of racing or just riding. I ride like a xc race, and i can ride about 6-8 hours on a full tank. I do ride pretty hard, just doesnt seem like my tank goes empty like your guys.

I can get only about 65-70 miles at the most out of my 450R's in the desert, and that is with a oversize tank. (I am lucky to get 50 miles in the dunes.) Lets say I average 25 mph, that is only 3 hours at the most.

In Maine once I do a 120 mile loop trail once on a single tank of gas.
Though that was on wide open trails and a lot of roads just smooth sailing so that helped the gas mileage drastically.
And I rode a long time on reserve to make it back, I was sweating it thinking I was guna run out in the middle of the wilderness :P

I run 100 octane from the pump that is sold in some of the Rebel gas sations in Vegas. Do not really need it, but my quads sure do seem to run better on it then the 91 octane crap we get here. That and it does not leave all kinds of nasty residue if you leave it in your carb for a while.

cam 2, the purple stuff.. it will last a nice long day (8-10 hours) or riding, or it could last 4-5 hours.. depending on how your carb is setup (how much fuel is being dumped gown the throat of her) and how hard you are riding..
