Hello I was just wondering if anyone had a full race 400ex with gussets? I'm going to do a full gusset job next year and was wondering where to gusset. Frame was cracked tonite when we took the swing arm off right by where foot pegs are on that part that does straight across, we made two gussets and welded it up.

i gusseted the front frame rails and where the shocks mount. they seem to be the main spot

i also added weld to the bracket that holds the steering stem mount on

Do you think you could post a pic or two that way we can see?
Thanks.

I think the Bare Performace Gusset kit comes with 16 gussets all pre-cut. I know its on the shock towers, at the motor mount area, foot pegs and I think the A-arm points.

thats where i did mine. i did make foot peg ones as well, but i decided not to do them seeing as i don't weigh much and probly won't ever crack the frame there.

Moose post some of your quad pics, I want to see what a decent 400 looks like. I'll post some of mine once I get done with my build. I also was wondering, I live very close to bare performance. Their Gusset and PC job is about 500 dollars. Thats a deal compared to other pc's around here they run me about 700 total just for pc.... Do you guys think its worth it? They also will give my frame a full rundown.

Seems pretty fair.
$70 for the kit
Welder is prob. $100 or so for labor

If you can get it all done for $500 I would think it is pretty good. Especially if you close so you don't have to pay shipping

I'd say so.. i really lucked out with mine. i cut out my own gussets and welded them in, and got my PC done for free. 500 isnt that bad considering its not only PC.

I just checked out the Bare Performace website. Looks like $450 without shipping for the kit installed and PC'd. A two week turn around time also.

They have a picture of all the points that get gusseted.

My shock mounts got screwed up when we tried to put on the 450r shocks. I havn't saw a close view of the mounts, I think they will hook me up though. Renting a TIG weilder would be next to impossible if your not looking to get raped on price. Well Thanks guys for your suggestions and inputs.

Just gave me a price, 525-575 depending on frame damage. Plus 100 dollars for custom paint.

Thanks for those pics guys. My dad said he can make the gussets and weld them in if he knew where they had to go.

As much as I like yamaha's and hate when people bash them, ill admit that thing on the bar pad is funny:p

Whats the top part say? I can only see the part about the yamaha.

Oh it just says don't go to the outside of the 1st turn at Weyerhaeuser. Which is a track that I flipped in the 1st turn. LOL

Ya I just found a good deal on a crf450 LSR400ex frame setup. I just have to put on my new arm's rear shock and stem/axle and its good to go. I think I'm moving up. It's going to be wicked fast.

That sounds strong. I look forward to seeing the final product.
Here's what my looks like at the moment, until we get the new swinger on there.

I'm not sure myself but I'm sure 50 to 55hp is what it should be or maybe even more. Maybe look in the Forum labeled Hybrid/Custom Quad.
I've read from a few people on here that they are awesome. Here's a quote from another thread hope the guy doesn't mind.

I love my hybrid. I have beaten everything I have faced so far as far as shear power goes, including a TC National 450r, and a stroked yfz480. The handling is amazing, you will not be disappointed I promise you.
