How reliable is a 05 yfz 450 stock form

Looking at buying one of these it has been rebuilt and hardly any hours on the new engine. How strong and reliable are these motors? Do the 05's run as good as new ltr's and kfx450's etc?? thanks Mark

they are reliable, but not nearly as much as the 06. from 05-06 yamaha made over 80 changes on the whole bike, including adding a full 10 cc's. you could prolly find a nice 06 somewhere for maybe just a little bit more. the 06 willl run more like the new kawi's and zuki's. just my $.02

I have a 06, my buddies have 05, and 07. All are fast and all reliable, They have made changes, but they are all good. 06 and on have better seats and softer shocks.
