when i pull my clutch in, the lever on the clutch case only moves about a 1/4 inch or maybe a lil more it doesnt move much at all. is this normal, i've been having problems with the clutch engaging on a cold start, once it warms up no problems at all, and if i rock the quad for a few minutes the clutch will finally engage, what does this sound like? i need some advice quick.. and how do i go about adjusting the cable slack on the clutch???

mines doing the same thing right now....I think that maybe the clutch cable has stretched, I ordered a new one and will let you know if its the problem

I have a 2000 400ex and mine was doing the same thing and I replaced the clutch cable with a "Motion Pro" Terminator cable and that fixed my problem. I called Motion Pro and told them my problem and they said the cable had stretched.

ok clutch cable in and problem solved!......the pull is now consistantly smooth and much easier on the forearm. I hope yours is the same easy/cheap problem

I had the same issue with mine, man was my left hand ever tired!

It felt like a new quad after that. It's just one of those things that get's progressively worse and you don't notice it.

lol I just bought this and it was hard as hell!, Ive never been around 400s before so at first I though it may be the way they were but after riding it there was no way it could be right. Glad it was a cheap fix though.....this is my reliable backup bike :)

So before your guys changed the cable, the clutch was tight? hard to pull back kinda? I tried my friends brand new 08 yamaha yz250f clutch and that this was smooth and easy as butter.

Im practicing wheelies and the only way I can pop the clutch is with my index finger because I need the other fingers for holding on. I really want a smooth and easy pull because my arm gets real tired from that 1 finger pull

yeah very tight....squeezing the clutch lever was like gripping one of those stress balls. After I changed the cable it still has a firm feel to it but compared to the predator clutch it is still firmer. fwiw

my clutch is super hard to pull after racing. I dont know if its because of rompin on it or my arms are just that tired and arm pump to pull in the lever lol

lol...I always popped a wheelie by gassing it and pulling on the handlebars. :)
