Kinda raced a Z..

I rode around with a couple kids down in the field below my house just before.

We started going around this "track" and really gettin into it.

Im glad to say, on the one straight before the downhill, that we looked at each other and nailed it. My 400ex with just an exhaust just barely inched away from the z400 without the baffle. We were almost dead even, but I had a small advantage.

I think its the z's top end that makes it that hair slower than a piped ex.

Anyways, I tested out my new bars (renthal banshee bend) and had a lot of fun.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'd tell that kid to put the baffle back in and it would probably be faster.

It was all in fun. I was runnin real hard for like 2 hours. I went home because I checked my tank and she was almost empty

Oh yeah let him leave it out. Anytime Honda guys can win is good in my book. I went ridding today also, although it didn't have such a good ending. Snapped the end of the swing arm bolt right off. Now I need to find one and maybe a swingarm in a week.

Ouch, that sucks.

I'm so glad I changed my bars, I think it actually made me faster. The TAG's were so low, but the new bars are a lot taller and more comfortable.

I have Renthal 400ex bend and they are high enough and work and feel great.

But, as far as stock for stock, or close to stock, I think they're about dead even. Well, if the 400ex has an exhaust.

Also, my full exhaust is designed for the midrange, top end. That helped a lot against the Z's top end also.

on the track i can hang ans\d pass piped 450s and i have a stock ex. but thats jus rider, if some1 my skill pulled up on a 450 then id be toast.
my ridin buddy has a z. he beats me on drags, but on the track and fast trail ridin i beat him.

last time i was at a motocross track, i pulled away from yfz's, 450r's, and ltr's. the kfx riders basically lapped me, but they were A class riders haha.

Out at my track, we have an A class open rider that places top 3 at red bud....and wow, we also had a factory kid out there with his 450r. He had a group of smokin hot babes takin pics of him. The funny thing was he wasn't that good for the quad that he was riding. Rock on with the 400's!

Well, as you guys are talking about racing 450's with 400's, i got a story.

At my local riding spot, theres a big sand drag strip, its wide enough to race over 20 bikes at once. Anyways, theres a crowd on the side watchin the bikes go at it. I was getting bored watchin so i decided to line up against 2 banshees, a ds650, and a 450r. They all looked at me and started laughing, and giving me funny looks. Reason for this? I lined up with a 250ex! HAHA. When they took off, the sand flew everywhere, they were at the end of the track, and heres a yellow 250ex 1/4 of the way crusin along in 5th. That moment was priceless!

yea thats nice, but nothing feels better than when a bunch of guys on 450s and bikes are rolling a jump or doublig a triple and you come through and launch it:eek2:

Yeah its even better when the 450's are singling and you go and pass them in the air. haha Or maybe leading a class that has nothing but 450's in it like I am.

In a drag very ture unless the guy misses a shift or stalls lol but on a track or through the trails where the 400ex shines... I have beaten many 450's both track and trails but i have also been beaten by many 450's in both lol. Z400's i've only raced 2. The one beat me but it also had better tires full exhaust and a guy thats crazy riding it lol. Its almost all rider skill but tires, shocks, mods still come into play that can make or break a race. suspension and handling is such an important thing heck my brothers quad is slower in a drag but he beats me sometimes because his tires hookup out of a turn and his works remote rezzie rear shock is like floating over everything and his rear tires stay on the ground and get traction with the razr rears and the works shock. Its amazing what tires and suspension can do to a quad. That being said yeah suspension makes you way faster than any bolt on parts except in a drag

i know that feeling form both sides lol when your the one flying through the air its like i'm so bad a** and when your the one rolling over things and someone flys over you or hauls and nails a big jump your in awe like damn that guys good lol

i know that feeling, when your rolling a double and your about half way and some guy flys over you and nails it on the landing and you get a face full...:devil:

than when its later in the day and your doing that to other 450 riders:macho
