View Full Version : swingarm bolt..how tight?

I put a new swingarm bolt in the 400ex.While tightening I heard it clicking.I kept tightening until it was pretty hard to tighten anymore.Is this good enough or to tight.:ermm:

If you are talking about the Pivot Bolt then I would get it as tight as you can. That is what holds your whole rear end on the quad, make sure you lube it with a ton of waterproof grease so it doesn't get budged in there. Hope this helped

manual says to torque to 80 ft pounds(108 N*m)

yes the pivot bolt.I just have a habbit of breaking bolts and I didnt want to break it.Thanks for the info.

thanks,i dont have the manual so I didnt know and I need to get a torque wrench

ehh.. just crank down on it.. its a pretty tough bolt to break

I get it as tight as I can with a breaker bar. No problems

just use those guns you have in the picture to tighten it, bolt breaker!!
