im thinking about finding a car and putting a diesel engine in it. where can i find guidance for this project before i spend a lot of money and time?

one question for you. how do you plan on supporting the weight of the motor and trans? and what motor are you thinkin about using?

as for guidance... thats your own problem you will have to make your own suspention mounting points, ecm, pcm, harness plugs. basically build your whole freakin wiring harness from scratch. imho i wouldnt do it. where i used to work they are putting a cummins in a ford expedition. and not a stock cummins either. its bolted to the expeditions tranny. ive been going in and helping them. thats worth it because a 12 valve doesnt require much. but a jetta engine in a different car isnt worth ****. you will never make your money back that way and will always be running into problems. but if you want to go ahead and have fun fabbing up the suspention, the wiring, the subframe, and getting all that crap to work wasting your money to do it.

Depending on the state, you might also run into emission problems.

Maybe that's only in California--we are way too restricted here.
