hey guys, i'm a new member thinking of getting a 250R. I am not TOO familliar with them. How do they compare in size, speed, reliablility, suspension and power to a banshee?

the 250r stock for stock is like a little more powerful 400ex. When built though I have seen quite a few 250r beat banshees. Even if it didnt have as much power your still getting much better handling

I would get an R over a Banshee for the chassis alone.

I'm not really a big fan of Yamaha in general either.

Depends a little on where you ride.

I've owed several of them both. My $0.02 is the banshee, -motor is awesome- hands down. It does cost about twice as much to modify and twice as hard to tune... is the only down side on the motor. They can be set up for just about any type of riding... contrary to popular belief. I've seen great trail bikes that were banshees. Its just not where the full potential of the motor can be utilized like in the dunes.

With that said, go with the 250R. The have great power and simple to tune and modify. Still plenty of aftermarket stuff around. The handling is where the 250R shines. Great chassis and great all around, whether trails, dunes, etc... and they can be built to the hilt if you so choose. Just like a banshee.

Stock front suspension is crap like everything else but the back is good and you can even use it if you're only trail riding and doing average sized jumps.

I can beat a Banshee easy, and I could beat one before I got my 310 cylinder as well with a ported stock cylinder.
