Hi guys,My name is jimmy I'm from Quebec and i was planing to come back to atv. First i should say that this is a very nice forum !!! Here is my little story : I've been riding dirt bikes for a lot of time now with my friends (they have only atvs) so this is why i want to get one. With my mx, i do 80% tracks 10% pits and 10% trail/enduro. With my atv i plan to do the same. I AM the one who LOVESSSSSS 2 Strokes ... so forget the mad 4 strokes !!! I've already had an banshee .. But for the mx it's not the best.. (And by the way i will race) So my only option is the legendary old trx 250r. I've already spotted one who seems in great condition. It's not that expensive (i've got an little budjet) and i would have some money to but an axel with some nice a-arms with a good suspention. My question is, if its in good condition would it be a good atv to race ? I am planing to put a lot of money on it so it could be race ready. Do the frame have any weakness? Can i repair them with a gusset kit ? Where are does weakness? I don't want to buy the quad and after a couple of race the frame rips in two. Should i buy an aftermarket frame ?? Thanks for your futur answers Atv riders !!!!

if it HAS to be two stroke, that's close to your only option

It's a great MX quad. My favorite quad.

As for gussets, go hit up the 250R section. There's gusset reccomendations for the different years in there.

Well the 250r is about the best quad ever made and it dominated mx tracks until the new 450s came out. Pros used the 250r chassis for hybrids.

ok but is it still compititive with a good rider on it or i will be better on a 450 ?

If you dont go cheap on parts and buy top of the line suspension and motor parts youll be very competitive. The 250rs can still hold there own against a 450. 250rs have lots of power and if the right parts are used you can unlease alot of power that can take a 450.
