2005 ex400 2001 300ex axle?

I was told the stock axle for a 2005 400ex would be a direct fit for my 01 300ex but when i nstaled the brake rotor bracket wont go all the way into the carrier about 1/4 inch sticks out can anyone assist me please?

400 axle is wider wear the bearings are. its not gonna fit in a 300.

Yeah, i tried it on mine, if you're really into paying alot for thhe extra 2" from stock the 400 axle would get you, i believe the swingarms may line up. But it would be cheaper to get a wider axle new or used. If you really want to you can put spacers (washers) in between the sprocket hub and carrier and put a bushing in the carrier where the hub bushing would have been, but you would have to make sure the sprocket ligned up. Sprocket alignment is a big deal, Im runnin into that problem with putting a huge engine in my blaster since its leakin oil into the crank.
