Any bore over a 416cc (87mm) with out the use of heavy duty cylinder studs or over/under torqueing the head nuts will definitely lead to a blown head or base gasket. If you use a torque wrench, maintenance manual, and use HD studs over 87mm you won't have any problems.

x2, but to add...if you go to a 426, you are at more of a risk to blow head gaskets, but not like the 440...a 440 will blow them left and right if you dont run HD studs.

I've been running a 426ex now for over a year without any head gasket problems at all, and no head HD studs.

:) +1 for that. Mine is going on 5 years. Just do proper maintenance and use a TQ wrench to assemble.
