View Full Version : air cooled vs water cooled

i think i may have made a mistake i just bought a air cooled drx50 and now im hearing that the water cooled are faster and come with a performance head ect. i do plan on racing this quad is there really much difference? if so can i change it to water? and is it cost effective or should i just but a water cooled? thanks in advance for the help!!!

Both can be made to go equally fast

There is truley not much difference in them in the 50s. You can do the same work i.e. porting,polishing,to either cylinder and as Gary said they can both be made equally fast. The air cooled cylinders are usually easier to port, but you are limited to what can be done with the head on the water cooled. I do have a complete national ported 50 water cooled top end I would sell you and could get you the rest of the setup as well if you are interested as we have went to a 70 top end on ours.

last season NEATV 50 class was 4 of the top 5 Air Cooled

for 2008 the fastest kid but had bad luck in 1 race is still an aircooled

50 class it depends on the kid willing to hold the throttle the most

70's and 90's - thats as different story, watercooled is the way to go to keep the cylinder cool when creatin more HP

In stock form the water cooled bikes are much quicker than the air cooled bikes. Again that is in STOCK form...
