Quick Question About My Truck

I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 that i just bought on monday and changed the oil in it yesterday. I put in Valvoline 5w30 and now my oil pressure is high, on the gauge it is past the 40 mark. Thats not normal is it? Before at idle it would stay below 40 and then increase as i increased speed. Now no matter what it stays above the 40 mark. Did i put to much oil in it or something? When i looked at the dipstick it was good. Any suggestions. I have to leave in a lil bit and idk if i should drive the truck so let me know what you guys think. Thanks

your probably ok, my dakota is always over 40psi too. more than likly we have the same motor

High oil pressure is a good thing unless it is too high, and 40 is not close to too high to hurt anything. I didn't pay attention to where you are located, but I generally run thicker oil in the summer.
