got beat by a yfz wtf??

ok so this dude in my neighborhood bought a 05 used yfz 450. bone stock....we raced on the hard surface road the other day and i busted his *** on bottomend but topend he came arround me WTH is up with that? i got wb carbon pro 2 exhaust, hrc cam, jetted, k&n airfilter, hrc headpipe, and greenwire mod done.....how is he still pulling arround me? oh i failed to mention im running 18' holeshots....but i dont think he should be able to pull me by that much....he was pullin my 450 by maybe 2 bike lenghts....imma try runnin him on dirt....and imma also try runnin him with the 20s and see what i get, but i was jus wonderin WTF...ive beat several yfz 450s....but ive never raced them on the road, and ive never raced them from a roll.

me and dude ran from a first gear roll and i jumped him but bout 3rd gear he went right back by me, and then we tried a second gear roll....got the same thing....


if we was running in dirt we would run from a dig id rev it to the moon in 2nd gear and drop the hammer and burn him alive ive done it to every other yfz ive raced

keep racing him down the road and you wont have to worry about beating him i know 3 people thathad 05 yfz and the threw a rod out the bottom

The Yams are Fast, they are no joke.

I love my TRX, but I like they Yamaha just as much....

with 18 inch tires your gunna be quicker. but with him running 20 inch tires he will be faster. change the tires and you will smoke him

yeah the yfz is the fastest bone stock 450 out there, if it wasnt for there damn reliability problems with everything, and i dont want an arguement with anyone because all the time at my track i see downed yfz's, they would be the best 450 out if you ask me.

they are fast but i had a ltr and could outrun a yfz like nothing thats witrh me geared lower with 18 and on top end pull away from them

no matter what you do the yfz is a faster bike. lighter better carb and better motor.

I do agree with wildwheeler, and I am a Honda guy.

Now I never Drag-Race so I really don`t care what is faster in straight line, unless you can outride me on a track, you will be behind me, no matter if I am riding a blaster or a 450R.

represent i totaly agree. it not the bike its the rider riding the bike. simply thats it. even with drag racing shift points are key same with clutch.

I agree, the Honda is more comfortable for me, I am 6'3".

The Yam is too cramped, fo rme anyway.

I can hold my own, I was a front running B rider when I quit racing, and Power was never a determiing factor in any race I won or lost....never.

It is all about the rider..remember that when your fiend buys a 600 dollar exhaust for his 450 because he "needed more power"!!

oh for everybody that says the yfz is fast...and got a good designed motor? come on how they got 5 vavles crammed in that head....a properly 4 vavle set up will work better then 5 vavles....ive never really thought 2 highly of a yfz 2 be honest with you....

that particular 5 valve head design works better than the 4 head designs and the components of the yfz are better than what comes in the trx....sorry that you don't agree but its a pretty well known fact

The true problem is your gearing ratio. That makes a huge difference. Find out what gearing you have and what gearing your neighbor has.

Yup. Gearing ratios may be coming into play ... you could be set up for low-end where his is top. Even if the gearing is the same, your tires will change the overall ratio and make you top-out quicker than someone on 20's. With your mods you should spank most things in a drag race.

If you want to outrun him top speed, bump your front sprocket up one tooth. That will help offset the 18" tires. The YFZ Is a great runner. If the exhaust cam timing has been retarded, they really pull more top end.

all i have to say about drags, my buddy has a 04 z400 with stage 2 hot cams full exhaust all the little bolt ons and my 450 when it was stock got beat by a tire length. 50ccs smaller and lower compression then my 07

I have both a YFZ450 and CRF450 Hybrid. Truth is Yamaha is faster when they run. I have a bone stock 04 motor, no cam mod or anything with a GYTR exhaust. My CRF has a BCS motor with 505 cylinder, big valves, big cam, 13.1 piston and my YFZ will still pull it from 4th gear out. The CRF is a stronger motor but look at all the **** thats done to it?! Once I get my YFZ freshened up and 13.1 piston and cams and new crank and bigger valves it will be hell to reckon with. I race MX on both quads and the CRF is a big time holeshot killer but the YFZ is so much faster on a big track but it's also harder to ride.

I have an 08 TRX 450 and the YFZ 450 can't touch me. My friend has 07 yfz with basically same mods and I smoke em. Dragging or track, he gets ate up. Oh and we have switched machines and still the same. LOL!!!!! LTR a bigger joke. :blah:

Go one tooth bigger on the front sprocket and your problem will be solved.:D
