2008 IATVHSS Round 2 "Mineral City Speedway" Fort Dodge,IA

The Iatvhss has been making an annual stop at the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge,IA since the series began 5 years ago.

The racers were set to to go for the second round of the 2008 series. This round the racers were spared a mudrace but the heat was going to take it's toll on many racers.

I want to give an extra special thank you to my Daughter, Taylor, for going out and taking pictures of the youth race while I was out of commission that morning. She wasn't even asked too, she just grabbed the camera and went out and did her thing.

The 50 production class had 6 entries this round. Here's Kendrick Uehlin and Caleb Gaylor battling for the holeshot.

Next class off the line was the 50 stock class.

Christian Hohneke was able to take a third in the 50 production class.

Brock Kyner takes the win the 50 stock class. Brock now has two wins in a row.

Here comes a whole line of racers with Eily Mickelson leading the way. She's a new racer but she's bound to have skills since her Mom and Dad both race in the morning class. Angela in the women's class and Jason in the Utiltiy class.

Angela Mickelson is trying to get use to a new quad she is now riding a Kawasaki. She still would go on to finish third in the women's class.

Luke Olberding traded the lead back and fourth with Jerry Costello in the stock class but would hold out and take the victory for the day.

Dusty Kostman goes for the pass on Randall Carden trying to hunt down Muzzerelli. In the end she would take the ladies win and second overall with Kim taking the third overall position.

Brandon Burns had an amazing day and took the young C win and first overall.

Kim Muzzerelli had some issues with lap riders and at one point went over the bars but was still able to battle to third overall at the raceway.

Heather Stevenson has joined her family as a racer this year. She is the mother of 90 racers Dakota and Shyanne and the wife of Curt Stevenson.

Jerry Costello flys out of scoring wanting the win but this round he would have to settle for second in the stock class.

This is Michelle Mickelberry's first full season of racing and she doing well with her fourth place finish this round.

Saige Johnson is running the junior class for the first time this year. She's battling hard, never complaining, and getting faster at each round.

Skyler Moran giving it his all trying to catch the junior class leader Lucas Dalton who would not only be uncatchable and take the class win but would finish seventh overall in the morning race.

+40 class racers Roy Hazzard and Miles Harris shoot the breeze as they await the start of the afternoon classes.

This round of action was called the Honkytonk. It was named for Shawn and Jennifer Hohneke who stepped up and sponsored the race. That's a real love of the sport to donate to get a race going. Shawn runs the AA class and his son Christian races the 50 production class.

16 year old Bradley Burrows is showing he's got what it takes to run with the fastest racers with his 6th place overall finish.

Zac Johnson was hard on the throttle after a slow start. In the end he would take third overall at this second round of racing.

John Wood has been following the series since the beginning 5 years ago. Unfortunately due to the ever increasing fuel prices John was forced to bow out after this race and face an early retirement. Now he's spending all his extra cash on air horns.

Bob Ziebell runs the A class. He took a first at the last round and this round he would take second behind Colby Kostman. It's going to be a tight points battle between these two racers.
