how often do i need to change the oil in my -06 trx450r? what about the tranny oil? can i use the same oil in the tranny as i do the motor? they didnt have any freakin oil at the shop, so i put 10w30 in it. is that cool?

I change mine every other ride, both motor and tranny. As long as the 10W30 you used does not have moly in it you are ok. If it did it's time for a new clutch. What I use is Rotella 5W40 for the motor side and the Honda 2 stroke gear box oil for the tranny side, the red suff in the red bottle.
