How do you tighten the sparkplug? My socket wont fit down there, I tried to finger tighten it but that doesnt work. How does everyone get this simple task done?

As mentioned, use the plug tool that came in the tool kit. If it's missing, you'll either need to 1) find that rare socket that will fit, 2) grind down a socket to make it fit, or 3) buy a special spark plug socket made by motion pro or some other thin-wall socket that fits.

Every socket I own so far has worked:confused: lol.

All except one that was in my friends tool kit.

The castings of the valve covers can be different by just enough that some have more clearance. That's my guess on why you've been lucky. Although I have no idea why the tool kit socket wouldn't work. User error I suspect. Just kidding. ;)

yeah I have a socket that has worked on 3 different 400ex's without grinding it down or anything. I have used the tool they give you... its junk. Be very careful not to crossthread or strip the threads out of the spark plug hole. Its in such a dumb location its hard to use your fingers to make sure its threaded in right.

my craftsman socket doesn't work but i went to the local hardware store a "do-it best" store and bought a 3 dollar socket and it fit.
