I have a 2001 400ex,My choke moves halfway closed by itself. The little yellow lever is a little loose so it maybe from vibrations.I do steep hill climbs and this can be dangerous cause I loose power.Any ideas on how to keep it from moving by itself? Is there a spring or something that keeps it open?Any help will be appreciated:ermm:

what size pilot jet are u running?

i live in florida so theres nothing even remotely close to cold down here..
so mine starts right up and runs fine no problems
id guess during the colder seasons that may change but even in "winter" we only get a few weeks of cold weather and they are normally inbetween warm weeks hehe..so its never cold for long

I just bought this the other day so I have yet to check the jetting but I was told by the other owner it was jetted.I have to check to see.Could the pilot jet cause this prob though?

The 400ex's are cold blooded and stock come with a 38 pilot jet. More than likely there is a 38 in it if it wont start right up. Put a 42 main jet in and that should solve the problem.

Besides, thats not needed really in the summer. I live in southern NY, (10567). And today its 105 degrees...not including humidity! :eek2: lol

Here's the article on how to remove your choke.
The pilot should be a 42 not the main.

liked suggested put a 42 pilot jet..shouldnt have a single problem starting..

the pilot jet wouldnt cause ur problem now..but if u removed choke and have have a 42pilot then u wont have the cold start issue..
