take the number off the switch or take switch too your honda dealer, most of them can make you a new key

Your story doesn't sound right, if it's your parents quad, let them take care of it, I think the police should visit your house and check this quad out. If it's yours or your parents quad no harm no foul, with all the stolen quads these days, can't be too safe.

RG

why do you want to hot wire it, when you say the axle carrier is no good, you couldn't ride it if you got it started anyway, something ain't right about your story.

I don't want to seem disrespectful, but thousands of quads get stolen, it's almost an epidemic, and your asking how to hot wire a 400.

understandable, i will give u everything my name adress , the serial number of my quad and u can even meet me if u want and get the police to do a stolen quad search on my quad. but if you are wrong you have to buy me a new axle bearing and seals.

Also if a quad was going to be stolen it would be harder to hotwire it then by a new ignition. And you would proly just pick it up and put it in a truck. So are u going to help me or are you going to buy me an axle bearing and seals.

just cut the fricking wires and hold two of them together till it frickin starts.

2001 trx400ex
11-30-2002, 09:07 PM
i want to b able to keep it hotwire so would i tie them together. and which 2 wires, there are 4 of them.

11-30-2002, 09:13 PM
touch them together one by one till one of them starts it. Or look in you owners manual and read the wireing diagram

11-30-2002, 09:17 PM
obvously you have no idea what you are talking about.

11-30-2002, 09:30 PM
you should have 4 wires going to the key: 1) black w/white strip 2) Green 3) red 4) black You need to connect the black one and the red one and make sure the bl/w one and the Green one are not touching. If you would look at the wiring diagram in the back of your owner's manual it would tell you this IDIOT

Cant we all just get along. LOL

I lost both keys to my ole 300EX a few years ago. I took the ignition switch out and took it to a lock smith. He made me a key for like five bucks.

Good luck!

Ya guys, come on. There no need to tell some one how to "hot wire" a quad. Mines locked up in the garage and has insurance on it anyways. In fact, you could steal it right now if you want. I'll give you my address and even help you load it in your car. (See my post about the gear case)

Well a couple of months ago i was about 300 feet from losin my 400. A couple of fags hot wired it and were riding it across my field and were gonna load it up on the other side. Thank god it blew a fuse because of it. And my neighbors called the cops on em. One of em's in jail and the other two i don't know about but i dont really care just as long as they stay away from my quad. I don't know what i would do without my 400:confused:

yea no stealing quads guess, besides, if you get off ur lazy theif arse and think about it, its really easy to hotwire a quad, just connect one wire to the positive side of the battery and touch the negative side with it, the answer should spark right in front you you( if its not stolen please do not try this)

IVE GOT MINE CHAINED DOWN TO A 8O LBS OF BURIED CONCRETE IN MY GARAGE. SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TO CUT MY FRAME IN 2 PLACES OF BRING A TORCH FOR THE HUGE CHAIN WITH THEM TO GET IT. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, IF SOMEONE WANTED ONE BAD ENOUGH, THERE'S NO WAY TO STOP THEM.

I WOULD BE EXTREMELY UPSET.

First of all, you definitely use something bigger than a .22 cal to stop a thief. I like fast, flat shooting magnum calibers that will reach out and touch them from 300 yds or more. That way if they do steal it and are riding away, you can still take them out. One shot- One kill. If stealing things is the only life they can do, then everytime they get caught stealing something, they should get a finger cut off-just like in some foreign countries. When they run out of fingers, guess what, no more stealing from them. It's that or get the meanest pit bull that won't take food from strangers and let him guard your things, I don't think anybody would like it when a pit bulls charges you going for your balls!!! There's nothing worse than a thief!

i had a quad stolen a couple of years ago! And boy did i get screwed on that one (no insurance) Seems a couple guys i knew decided they wanted to take my 300EX for a joy ride about 4A.M.
the quad was in the back of my truck because i just brought it back from my shop after replacing the carrier in it! Well i got a phone call that morning be cause a neighbor thought someone was out trying to steal gas, because the heard my quad fire up down the road. At that time i looked out and seen my quad gone(what a nice feeling to wake up to) i jumped in my truck and followed the tracks for 2miles into town, and i found it! After it was struck by a full size van while they attempted to cross the highway! it killed the passenger and the driver had his arm badly mutilated! and my quad was totaled! Thats when i found out how Honda made them so easy to hotwire! I'll post a pic later of quad. shows how tough Hondas are.

Be very careful when trying to hotwire a 400ex, my friend tried it and shorted out his electrical system, pretty embarrasing to tell dealer. the 300 ex is easy, but be careful on 400's.

my friend had a ol' blaster that he rode for a couple years with it hotwired...he bought it like that, and sold it like that...we never knew if it was stolen or not!.....and as far as saying we are just telling a theive how to steal our quads...most of them allready know how to anyways if they are good at their job, so might as well help this one guy how to do it. If someone wanted to hotwire one bad enough they could find a way.
