It would be a lot of work. Plus you would be weaking the swingarm. You would have to grind all the metal down to get rid of all of the cast bumps
to make the swing arm smooth to polish. I wouldn,t recommend it.

it will not weakin it the stuff you sand off is so thin there no way you could weakin it .

just pull the swingarm off get some av striper. from the car part store .
start with 600 grit paper sand it one way .
go to 800 grit sand across the way you just did
then 1000 grit should be gettin smooth now just go whay ever way.
now 1500 grit wet sanding paper keep it wet

get out the polished wheel and go to town.

i have done 10 street bikes its some work but looks like a million bucks

You will be grinding about 1/16 of an inch of the entire swingarm, this will weaken it. Plus the swingarm arn't that strong to begin with. Plus when you grind the metal you will be heating the metal up making the metal even weaker. Plus I've heard ( but not sure don't flame me if I'm wrong) The cast bumps help cracks from forming in the metal, which you would be getting rid of.

I have thought about doing this a while doing this but I'm not going to compermize(spe) the streghth of my swingarm for looks which get you nowhere.

streetbikes dont go through any of the punishment a quad will go thro! this will weaken the swingarm!

yeah maybe i will just get it powdercoated then.

sickO why do you keep saying grinding??
you wouldnt have to grind anything.
do you mean sanding?

And maybe the street bike swing arm is strongerand smoother than a f400ex swingarm. Look at the raptor swingarm, it would be easy to polish that swing arm.

Have you ever seen a 400ex swingarm. Its has a lot of cast bumps in it that are pretty deep if you are sanding. If I were to polish my 400ex swingarm I would just grind it smooth a grinder.

oh yea, don't get me wrong I would love to polish my swingarm if it didn't weaken it. And I would think it would be a waste of time powdercoating the swingarm. Just sell it and buy a good one thats powdercoated that will hold up and can be lenghten.
