stripped bolt

One of my oil filter bolts are stripped. Since it's cast aluminum im not sure how to fix it. Can someone give me some info on how i can re-thread this.

You can get it helicoiled or drill and tap to a larger size. But I would helicoil it if it were me.

The exact same thing happened to me last week. I used a 15mm longer bolt and it has held up through two races now. There is plenty of thread length left in the engine block to this and saves taking the side off and fitting a helicoil.
