Ok my most recent quad was a honda 450r I sold it because I want electric start and would like to have reverse I don't race I just ride in the trails. Anyway I have a friend on mine who's Dad and his brother had to payoff this bike that there couisen bought well his grandpa my friends Dad's Dad. Any way it was bought some time last year its all stock has not been rode sense last fall. Its a 2005 400ex yellow with about 10hrs on it they just want to sell it. Does $2,600 sound like a good deal?

it was kick start though you know if I was to buy one it would be electric start the reason I sold the R was I bought a street legal XR650R but changed my mind and just sold that. My R was a 04 anyways now I am looking for somthing with at least electric start and would like reverse really and I am on a buget of 3,100 anyways

The 450's are not trail quads....I am looking at getting rid of my LTR to buy a 400EX...I need a trail friendly quad and the 450 class machine are not trail friendly. I've owed an 06 450R and now an 06 LTR. The 450R was the worst quad I had ever owned. I have a a 400EX and a 250R and both are superior in the woods to either of my 450's

So I say go for the 400EX

yeah I know my buddy has a 2001 400ex and its a low end grunt monster compared to the 450's I even has a 13t on the front

Why was the 450r the worst bike you ever owned? Unreliable? A lot of maintanence? Expensive? No reverse? Too slow?

Where should I start.....

Didn't like to start when Hot, or should I say wouldn't start when hot. Didn't handle all that well. Suspension stiffer than a board without revalves. Small for a tall guy. Not a 250R or 400EX by any means.

More power than a 400 but not worth the headaches

I have to disagree on some and agree on some here. Ive owned 4 450Rs since the release and i love them on trails you just have to know how to ride one, and have never had one not wanna start. On the kickers just pump the gas 3 times, take your hand off the throttle and kick it. Never had to kick it more than 3 times. And on the electric i just pump the gas and hit the button and its purring. Yes the suspension sucks. But what stock suspension dont. I have rode every 450 out right now except for the KTM and i dont care what suzuki say about being race ready suspension. Yes they would be up to about C class, Maybe some B class but they all need their tuning to be competitive with an aftermarket shock............And im 6'3 210lbs and i feel best on the honda thats why i always go with the R, the suzuki is too cramped in has too short of a distance between the seat and the pegs or something. I could get comfortable on a YFZ also though

Check on craigslist and see what they are going for in your area, that way you know the market. Thats a sure fire way to say good deal or not, I always try to think about if i have to sell it can i get my money back out, if I can then good deal. All that a side it sounds like a good deal to me.
