ok today we went ridin and was going along for about an jour and then the fi/temp light came on, then when i turned it off you could here a bubbling noise inb the radiator but luckily we stopped by a creek and i refilled the coolant thing to max the we went along, another hour later same thing happened but this time i thought id play it safe and got a tow home, then i checked the fan fuse and it was blown so replaced it and then flushed and refilled the radiator and it seemed fine sittin in the driveway, is there anything else to check? or should that be it, in the 1 year ive gad it this is the first time its happened do im not particularly upset with it its just that im going on another trip tomorrow and hope to have this done by then...
thanks

Buy a gallon of Evans engine coolant it's $30. It doesn't expand when it gets hot so u won't loose any coolant. My bike is always hot, normally by the 2nd lap the lights on but thats just there for saftey. haha i can't keep the rad clean, it needs some sorta louver set-up in front of the rad.

That fuse box for the fan is not waterproof. Fill that sucker with dialectric grease! I did that, and put in Engine Ice. Had a muddy race today, and no problems.

ok now im confused, i put the fuse in and it ran fine, yet it kept suckin the coolant down., is there a way to fill radiator and all and be done with it?? all ive had to go by so far is that little plastic thing on the side and when i start riding it sucks the coolant back to the L line and ive looked for a radiaotor cap and havent found it yet so ill just keep lookin so keep the tips coming....

remove the side panel where the overflow bottle is, 2 10mm head bolts and a phillips screw. while u have it off, cut the top section off so u don't have to remove it to check rad. anymore.

Check all the wires coming from your fan, the fans on these bikes are very important. These bikes over heat faster then others if the fan don't come on. There is just not enough air that passes through the radiator to keep them cool. I have found that you have to go through the wires and check them, because they are bad to rub through and ground out on the frame and on the top of the radiator. This is what happened to me in the past. ;)

hey thanks alot! i think im all good to go now, the only thing that still stumps me a bit is how the fan can be dead for just an hour and the radiator eats up the coolant yet racers remove their fans (dont they?) and go hours on end without a problem?

like i said the fans on these bikes are very important!!!!!!!
if your fan don't run your riding is over on the KFX.
i haven't heard of anyone removing their fans.
i race XC and the fan is the most crucial part of the whole bike.
it don't matter how many thousands of dollars i have in my bike, if the fan don't run, my race is finished.
