I've tried everything to get more power out of the 4-stroke only to get reliability or lack there of. I fell in love with the way the ds90x looks so i was determined to get some power in this thing.

Subtract 2 strokes from 4-strokes and poof !!! You have a fast reliable 2stroke. I took the motor from a 2008 apex 100c and with a little nip and tuck i got a DRR or Apex machince with the great looks only can-am can offer.

Here's some pics

so know you have twice as much money in it...
Just curious why you didnt sell it and buy an Apex or a DRR... My sons DRR looks a lot like your Can am with out the Can AM graphics..

I purchased two 2008 Apex Mxr 100's already. One I stripped the motor out of and the other will be delivered in a few days. My daughter ordered some Quadskinz graphics with pink butterflies for her Apex and is excited to put on the beautiful graphics when her quad arrives. She'll also have a parts bike if neccessary.

I purchased the DS90x to replace her aging '06 Predator and was very disappointed about the performance but I liked the suspension and the stability of it. I tried everything to get power out of the four stroke (carb, cdi, exhaust, big valve head, piston etc...) just to make it a little faster than the 2-stroke Polaris. I did it but had alot of reliability issues such as over heating. I should have known that a 4-stroke takes almost twice the cc's to equal the power of a 2-stroke (450cc stroker = 250cc 2-stroke)

Thought about selling the DS90x but I had to much heart and soul in this thing to give up ( it became personnal, I wasnt about to lose this war LOL). And no other quad looks like it. Plus it looked like a fun project to do regardless of the money. Some people spend ten's of thousands of dollars to restore an old car when they could have purchased a new car for alot less. Same kinda thing with me. I had fun doing it.

Also my daughter is very excited for me to ride the Can-Am and chase her on her Apex on the Sand Dunes. :)

I just got back from the Oregon Dunes and this little quad performed great. The only thing i had to do was drop the needle jet one slot to lean the mid range.

The top speed is incredible and got there very very quickly even with my 162lb butt on it. My daughter got it up to 48 mph (on the sand!!!) according to my RZR's speedometer, a far cry from what the 4-stroke could do. I ended up riding it for most of the weekend as my daughter luvs her Apex better (must be the pink butterfly stickers on it lol )

Thanks Tmf. Excluding the price of a 2008 Apex 100 (lol ). in which i took the engine, radiator, wiring harness, upper motor mounts and rear sprocket. I have a couple of bucks in a heater hose , right angle spark plug cap, and scrap metal.

The rest of the Apex will be used as a parts bike for my daughter's 2008 Apex 100 if necessary.

that thing is sick! That is how they shouldve come stock. With that or a cr 150 motor in it.
