What gearing is everyone running with 20in tires in the rear. I just bought this quad and I think it has 15/36. ( I'll have to double check. But it seems when I go riding on trails, I stay in first gear. With all of my other quads I could stay in 2nd or 3rd on tight trails. Staying in first is alright but when I go to climb a hill or something right off it's good but it feels like I need to shift all of the time.

15/38 is stock for that '01. I run 14/38 in wooded trails and 15/39 or 14/38 in sand depending on tire choice. The 15/36 is good for top speed. Hope this helps.

For a 2001 EX with 20's the stock 15/38 gearing is a good compromise between low end torque and top speed. You could go with 15/39 for a little extra low end umph. If you climb a lot of hills or don't go very fast the 14T front like stumpy runs would be a better choice.

^^^ 16/38 is awesome I had that gearing at first then I went with a case saver and 14t. This quad really hauls with that gearing, just think 440 16/36 gearing you'd be blasting by 450's like they are standing still.
I have 18" tires and run 14/38 gearing. I'm thinking of getting 15/38 but I want to get more time on the quad before we go and change it.
