Tranny question

Put bike it 1st and rev throttle, bike goes into neutral, put in 1st gear 2nd and stays. Sometimes makes a clunk into gear. Rare though, usually only at sand dunes once good and hot. Sounds liek shift fork????

So is it just hitting a false neutral or will it actually stay in gear?
