i've had a real hard time getting my e-series and i finally got it and i went to put it on and i needed a new gasket for where the headpipe connects to the silencer.......anyways, today i went and got one and the guy gave me one......i got home and it looks to be too big.....it looks like it is metal and when i put it on the header it is too big......i read in another thread that they smash down to size........is this true?

when i ordered mine, sparks said to dont worry about the gaskets. he said they are a hassle, and they make less power then usin silicone alone, (due to the fact that the gasket cuts into the exhaust and makes a lip,). he said to put a small amount of silicone on the headers, spread it around, and attatch the pipe. its wut i am doin

sorry for all the pics....i just want to do this right........when it sits on the header, it just looks too big, will it crunch down to size?

ohh, i thought you were talkn about the gasket thats where the headpipe and cylinder connect

that gasket could very well be the one that goes on the silencer and midpipe

sry for the confusion

The inside diameter looks to be too big for your header, are you sure he gave you the one for a 300 not a 400?

its for a 400, but he said its the same, do you think it will smash down to size?

Go to www.servicehonda.com and check out the schematics in the "hard parts" section. Check under the "muffler" link and compare both models. From what I can make of it, they show two different part numbers.

I would just use some Hi-Temp silicone.

but there is a pretty big gap there with just the header and the silencer, would silicone work?

Do you still have the bag that the gasket came in, with the part number on it? If so, what is it?

Yeah, they do that from time to time. My dealer is close enough that I go in when I order something. This way I can look at the schematics on the screen that the service guy is looking at, and point out the correct part.

Just an FYI.

The gasket you have is deff for a 400ex, not that I have any knowledge if it is for a 300 ex also.

Problem is that doesnt fit the aftermarket silencers for the 400 either, well at least not my FMF so I returned it since I had no use for it.

Now I use an air gasket LOL funny thing is it doesnt leak.
