i believe it is 16 1/2" eye to eye, the 450r shock will mount right up but will make the ride hieght higher and the overall ride stiffer, if you were to have someone revalve them and make them a triple rate they will work well (some people on here have done it with much success)

as far as pros in the day roll design, laeger, walsh, lonestar,i believe one of the last 250r's Ballance rode had an ARS-FX custom front end that was never produced for anyone but him (correct me if im wrong here)

hope this helps

Yokley ran Roll Design, Borich used t-pin laegers. '02 or '03 Ballance and Matt Smiley ran the ARS\fx arms. I bought a set from Mr. Smiley's quad and they use a 17.25 inch front shocks. They are +1 in width and 0 forward. I also have a set of +1 Roll Design XC arms and they use a 17 inch shock.

in the days before 4 pokes.. where do you think the aftermarket started from? :blah:

back in the day, laeger was the choice starting in the early 90z

I run 450r shocks on my R. I use Herrmann +1 wide +1 forward standard travel arms. My 450r shocks have been rebuilt triple-rate zps for my weight and XC. Big name shops like C&D, GtThunder, Derisi and JHracing can all do the conversions. Just tell them its for a 250r/400ex geometry. The conversions arent cheap, but they handle great.
