Has anyone ever used the fram suredrain on their 400ex? I was just trying to come up with a better way to drain the crankcase oil so i wouldnt make a mess of the skid plate. Do you think this would work?

the fram suredrain is for cars and trucks not for atvs, but if thgere is a car out there that's deain bolt is the same size of your atv then it should work

yes I know its just for cars and trucks so i emailed Fram about it and they said that it was a good idea and they may do some studying on atv's. They sent me a list of the sizes that they have available but I am unsure what size I need.If they do have the correct size I will let you know how it works out.

I drilled a hole about the size of a quarter in my skidplate right under the drain. It fixed everything.

Hmmm....

The service manual should give you enough info on that bolt in order for one to make a match with a Sure Drain plug.

.......I dont have my manual handy. Could someone who has there manual on there coffee table look it up for us???

All you need to know is 12X1.25 and 10X1.25. The second number is the metric thread pitch(1.25)
I am pretty sure it is 1.25 but it might be 1.50. I am not going to take it out to look. too messy.

i lost the crank case bolt and the way i found out is i had a tap and die set at the shop and go the pitch measuring tool and measured it from inside the hole. you can tell when its tight in the threads. if you dont have one see if someone would lone ya one. if not go to service honda and order a couple like i did.

is that gonna be able to with stand abuse though ? mud, dirt hard landing ? just a thought :devil

it should be able to stand the abuse as long as the pitch is right and i have a good seal. After all I live in Delaware and the only hill you see here is a manure pile in a feild. And as far as mud and dirt the plug comes with a cap.

go to service honda, look up the bolt and it should tell the size.
