450r power increase

Can anybody help us. My son's 450r is in need of a power boost. The problem is we are on a limited budget and wondering if any one can offer some suggestions.

I was told if we drop a CRF 450 cam and cdi box it will improve the bottom end power. Any opinions out there??

We already have a full DMC exhaust and changed the front sprocket, which helped a little but we are still loooking for a little more power.

By the way, he races MX "B" class.

05, MX, full exhaust and front sprocket change...that's it

for mx I would get the crf cam (same as 06+ hrc cam)
and bump compression to at least 12:1 and porting

will give you some great low/mid range power

cost around 600 bucks if you dont need valves and you put it together yourself

Cam,Piston and cyl head porting.

12:1 you can run pump fuel.

I just rebuilt mine with a 12.5 Je piston, stage 1 hotcam, and p&p, also has cdi, KN and such but, It really woke up! this is my first year racing XC they put me in C and I'am beating B riders with this setup, always have the holeshot!
