Hello, newbie here. I am about to make a move from a old Honda 250x to a 2003 ltz 400. I do not know much about the history of the quad, and i am aquiring it in a series of trades. The guy that had it replaced the piston and the rings, and it wouldnt start so he lost interest. Last night I checked the timing, and compression, things seem to be ok there. I have read many threads here and i am leaning toward a valve issue, but thought i would check the replies first. It is getting gas, fire and air will turn over but wont start, can anyone think of something other than valves? No mods that i of, all stock. Thanks in advance for the help.

The valves sound about right in an issue of Quad Magazine a guy with a TRX 450 had the same problem and they suggested checking the valves. Another thing they said was to check to make sure his air filter was clean. Hope this helps.

My buddy had the same problem, try push starting it once. Not sure why it worked for my buddy , but it did. The motor turns over faster when you push it, so if it works it may be compressin issue.
Or maybe it just need a push start once and thats all.
